Music 101, ages 5 and up

Music 101 is a comprehensive 12-week program designed to help students develop essential music skills. The program starts with a six-week course on Basic Fundamentals of Reading Sheet Music, where students learn how to read and interpret sheet music. In the second half of the program, students get to choose between joining the choir or learning one of the instruments provided. With the guidance of experienced instructors, students are able to improve their vocal or instrumental abilities. The program culminates in a final collaborative ensemble performance where students get to showcase their newfound skills in front of their peers. Through Music 101, students are given the opportunity to develop their musical abilities, increase their confidence, and build a lifelong appreciation for music.

  • Knowledge and analysis of Renaissance music

  • Understanding the influence of historical events on music development

  • Comparison of 19th century composers with those of previous eras

  • Understanding the relationship between composers and their public in different eras.
